about.
filmmaker, writer, image editor and sound designer.
Timur Aslaev was born on February 26, 1995, in the small town of Azanakaevo, Tatarstan, to a family of chemical engineers. At the age of three, his father moved the family to Pangody, Western Siberia, in search of work amid the economic decay of the post-Soviet era. The vast, quiet landscapes and monumental winters shaped Timur’s inner world. Throughout his youth, music was his guiding force.
In 2015, Timur settled in Canada to work in cybersecurity, where he participated in international projects and technological experiments. However, during this time his exploration of the meditative qualities of moving images and reverence for storytelling led him toward film, which soon became his life orienteer.
Now based in Montreal, he is in post-production on an experimental documentary, Avec le vent et les feuilles, and in pre-production for a new short film, To love you. Literature and music remain his greatest admirations, shaping his artistic voice. Timur continues to evolve as a filmmaker, grounded in his cultural heritage while pursuing meaningful, introspective cinema.
